Gurubakthula Konda: History Nestled among the picturesque Vizianagaram district (VZM) in Andhra Pradesh, Gurubakthula Konda is a site of archeological heritage with widespread importance historically. The enthusiastic volunteers of MVGR Swecha Learning Center (SLC) organized a trekking trip recently to visit the historical site. More than just trek, their goal was to map Gurubakthula Konda on Open StreetMaps and curate a complete Wikipedia account of its history, to the world. This incredible journey in details is here.
The Journey Begins
The journey started from the early morning as the bunch of zealous MVGR SLC volunteers gathered with full enthusiasm on. We wanted to find more secrets of the Gurubakthula Konda & the facts which will be useful for the next generations to the next trekkers. The drive to the base of the trek was stunning photoshoot around each bend as the beauty of the land and the thought of what could be just waiting to be discovered built our suspense.
Unveiling Gurubakthula Konda
The trek to Gurubakthula Konda was a moderate one, but as we hiked the surroundings got more mesmerizing. When we arrived on the internet site, we have been hit with the historic ruins. The battered rock compositions, suspicious sculptures, and misplaced remnants offered a charming peek into a long forgotten time. It felt like we were back in time, walking in the footsteps of people who once lived in this place.
Mapping the Heritage Site
One of our main aims was to map Gurubakthula Konda in Open Street Maps. Using GPS devices and mapping tools we carefully document the co-ordinates of important landmarks within the site. A detailed and accurate map was published, that literally highlights every structure, pathway, and notable feature within the plantation. This mapping did both. We understood that it was critical to have that information preserved and shared to make sure the site lives on. Adding to Open StreetMaps, Gurubakthula Konda.
Reflections on the Journey

The best part was that we had contributed to conserve these historical significance by documenting and sharing the same. We, therefor, walked off our journey carrying a sense of victory.
